THE STORMS WE CAUSE

THE STORMS WE CAUSE

The origins of our storms can be traced to three primary sources:

  1. Some storms are caused by the sin and irresponsible actions of other people. You cannot change the past or the consequences of their actions, but you can go to the Word of God to find answers on how to respond. Forgiveness is essential to prevent bitterness and resentment in your soul. Ask the LORD to show you how you can minimize the effects their behavior has on you and instead turn the situation around.
  2. The devil engineers some storms to distract and test us. Satan’s only goal is to “steal, kill, and destroy” everyone and everything you love and hold dear. (John 10:10) It is your responsibility to restrain the adversary from being successful. You must learn to take authority over the enemy and kick him out of your affairs.
  3. Many storms are of our own making. In other words, our storms are a direct consequence of our sins. We want to blame the devil but must recognize that our flesh wants to be “petted.” In Galatians 5:19-21, Paul taught that our physical desires (our flesh) are responsible. The devil uses our wants and desires to tempt us to sin.

9 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. (NLT)

In Jonah’s case, his storm was a direct consequence of his disobedience. Likewise, sometimes we make poor decisions or behave in such a way that stirs up devastating storms that create broken relationships, hurt, and strife. I see this often when dealing with people. People will walk in the flesh and then wonder why their is such an onslaught of evil against them. In short, their ungodly behavior has opened the door to demonic activity.

When storms result from our sin, we must first repent of that sin before even attempting to work through the consequences. Our repentance and humility invite the LORD to help us resolve the situation. He can cause restoration and favor in our lives. However, God also expects you to grow spiritually and not continue to make the same mistakes. Walking in the flesh should occur less and less as you mature in your faith.

Pray this: “Father God, show me if sin in my life is causing this storm. [Wait on the Holy Spirit to speak to you]. I confess __________ as a sin and am determined to turn from it. I ask you to turn this situation around and bring favor and healing into my life; in Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”

NUCLEAR PRAYERS THAT BLAST THE DEVIL contains many teaching that will help you to grow spiritually and learn how to please the LORD.

LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY!

LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY!

During the earthly ministry of Jesus, His disciples once came to Him with an interesting request:

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray,”… (Luke 11:1)

Notice that Jesus was praying. The disciples must have noticed that there was something different about how Jesus prayed.

The disciples did not ask how to preach or become ordained ministers. They did not ask how to build relationships. They did not even ask Jesus to teach them to perform miracles and physical healings. They asked Jesus to teach them how to pray!

Why would the disciples make such a request? I believe it was because they had witnessed the powerful results of Jesus’ prayer life in action – they saw the results His prayer life produced. It must have made an impact on them.

Learning how to pray effectively should be our number one priority also. When we know how to pray and teach others how to pray, our problems will be resolved.

Some people think that praying means asking God for something and then begging Him for it until they get it. However, effective praying involves re-speaking God’s Word back to Him in faith, knowing that God is faithful to watch over His Word to see that it is performed. He continues, “For I will hasten to perform My Word.” (Jer. 1:12) Speaking His Word consistently and sincerely invites the Holy Spirit to work and also activates the angels. (Ps. 103:20)

NUCLEAR PRAYERS THAT BLAST THE DEVIL can teach you how to pray effectively and with authority.

RUBBING A RABBIT’S FOOT!

RUBBING A RABBIT’S FOOT!

Speaking God’s Word to the mountains in your life is not like rubbing a rabbit’s foot and hoping for good luck! Speaking God’s promises sincerely and in faith simply confirms that you believe that God means what He said in His Word. It means that you understand the “terms of your Contract.” (“Contract” being a modern-day term for “covenant” or New Testament). God cannot change, but circumstances CAN change by using your spiritual weapons in warfare, and one of those weapons is The Word of God coming out of your mouth. (2 Cor. 4:13-18)

Jesus did NOT say in Mk. 11:23, 24, “… If you will THINK about the mountain…” He did not say, “… PRAY about the mountain…” Certainly, Jesus did not say, “Pray that I take away the mountain!” He said, “… SAY to this mountain…” “Saying” is audible. And what you SAY is critical! What you say should be in agreement with what God says in His Word. That’s what is meant by “confessing the Word.”

Believing, meditating on, and speaking the Word of God is how God instructed people throughout the Bible to have success and remove obstacles in their lives. (Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1:1-3 and many more). His methods have not changed just because people think they are highly educated and smarter than God!

I just heard a well-known speaker on Christian TV say that confessing the Promises of God is just barely a step up from rubbing a rabbit’s foot. IMHO, He showed his ignorance of the way that Jesus dealt with temptations, as well as how He got His own prayers answered. Jesus said to the disciples, “[YOU] SAY to the mountain…” YOU is the understood subject in this passage). Jesus answered the devil’s temptations by SAYING, “It is written…,” and then quoted Scriptures.

God gave us the ability to create and change with our words. That doesn’t mean we ARE God; it simply means that we are being great disciples by doing what He said to do to deal with problems in our lives.

Hebrews 11:3 says that “the worlds were framed by the Word of God.” That is the very same way we are to “frame our world,” – by using the Word of God to create and change things. We are created in God’s image to live like Him and follow His example on how to deal with problems.

Once again, that does not mean that we think we are God or “little gods.” We are simply following His instructions just like you teach your children and desire for them to follow your instructions on how to do things.

If we would follow the way that Jesus said to “move mountains,” then we would have more success in our prayer life.
